CFPA would limit credit and prevent consumer revival of the economy

(28 Jan 2010) The Bellingham Herald — Everyone agrees enhancing consumer protection is an important goal, but there is a right way to do it and a wrong way. The right way is to use common sense to fix what’s broken – the wrong way is to add another bureaucracy on top of the seven federal agencies that already protect consumers, especially when that new bureaucracy would burden virtually every business that extends credit to consumers with new costs.

    Sponsored by who? the Financial Industry and large Corporations that the CFPA would protect consumers from abuse by. The Chamber of Commerce does not represent consumers. Quite the opposite. Special Interests not people

    Once again the Chamber slings mud and distorts the real facts.
    I’m a member of three local chambers and you guys make me sick to my stomach.
    I own two small businesses and I wish you guys would say something positive for a change.
    If I have ever heard you guys say something positive I sure cannot remember it. Way too much negative rhetoric.
    Why don’t you try to say something pro- American about Washington for a change.
    Remember these folks in Washington are all ELECTED.
    To hear your negative ads one would think you hate America!
